"What sort of fun did you have in mind?"
Once upon a time, there was a tiny little competition - nay, a challenge - that ran over at amplificathon during the summer. And people made podfics for that challenge, and then they got points for those podfics, and I might have come in second place this year?
And today we got prizes!
I received two (count 'em - TWO!) podfics from the list of story suggestions I'd asked for: Truth, Lies, and the Tipping Point (read by dapatty) and Minions First (read by knight_tracer). You should totally go check those out, because they are awesome stories podficced by excellent readers.
But the best part, the absolute BEST part of today's prize reveal? Was the feeling I had seeing all the OTHER podfic prizes that were posted today, because SO MANY of them were actually on my To Be Podficced list.
I don't know if it's some kind of fannish hivemind thing, or just that I have very similar tastes in stories to several other podficcers, but I don't think I can properly express my joy at knowing that so many of the stories I wanted to hear recorded were also stories OTHER PEOPLE WANTED TO HEAR RECORDED, TOO.
For example, helens78 asked for a podfic of her fic First Meeting In Paradise as a potential prize.... and I had literally DEBATED WITH MYSELF if I wanted to ask for that story as a potential prize AS WELL. Then I thought, "Even if I don't ask for it, I'll probably get around to recording it anyway," so I didn't put it on my list. AND THEN I SAW IT WAS ON HER LIST, AND I HAD A MOMENT OF UNREPENTANT JOY.
So obviously I had to podfic it for her, since I wanted it, too. AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN! knight_tracer asked for a podfic of
fictionalaspect's story, Get Me Out of My Mind, as one of her possible podfic prizes, and THAT story was ALSO in my To Be Podficced list. In fact, I'd been seriously contemplating bumping it up higher on the list, ever since I'd learned that
fictionalaspect had Blanket Permission (just a few days before). It's got bb!Brenon and bb!Spencer being bb!failboats and it's full of so much smooshability that I kind of just really wanted to hug everyone by the time I was done recording.
