movie review time!

so i've been off work for about an hour, it was pretty good overall. i got death threats from some ugly ass hooker but that always happens in roxbury. better part of the day however was the two movies i rented: Employee of the Month, and Casino Royale.

EotM quite frankly i loved. im a dane cook fan as it is, and the movie reminded me alot of working in retail, and how it can affect your relationships while getting caught up in the whole ratrace thing. anyways, the movie had everything going for it; comedy, love, evil arch rival. i thought it was hysterical that they built a clubhouse behind some palettes. i never thought of that in all the times i've been to BJ's or Costco.
Dane Cook's character struck a chord with me as well. The slacker who has the potential to be great but doesn't strive for fear of failure. It reminds me alot of myself. a few years ago i was a brilliant artist, decent musician, had ambition, and hung out with my friends regularly. i took that year off after highschool and alot of that got pushed aside as i struggled to regain a foothold on my life. then my 2 best friends came into my life and bitchslapped it back together for me. i owe them alot, but thats another story for another day. Long story, short, my ambition is returning, if not slowly, but steadily. I found proffesional gaming to be well suited for me, and although i haven't gotten my big break yet, I have the skill to make it happen. this is something im going to follow through on, no matter the cost or the heartache.

anyways moving on!

Casino Royale. I love a good Bond film, and this one was right up my alley. the actors nailed their parts, the story was compelling, i thought it was over like 6 times before the actual ending came! my only complaint was that some of the fights were lacking. i remember bond playing it more of a spy type secret agent, infiltration rather than planned chaos from the start.(license to kill was my favorite btw) Not to mention how the movie centered around a poker game, and i love poker.

So i was very happy with my dvd choices for the day. i would have liked to rent The Departed, but they were out. oh well, maybe next week.
