(no subject)
o_o I was just backstage. I feel so sneaky.
Today was Kean's homecoming games against Rowan and the big concert was Cartel. We tailgated in the morning until the game with my center (NJCSTME). Most of the other "tailgaters" were groups like sororities and stuff and there was a competition for the best set up. We won (it was definitely rigged). I got lots of free stuff, danced, made fun of people... you know, the usual. Sometime before the game Cartel's bus casually rolls up beside the tailgating parking lot and the drummer is hanging out the window so I wave and then go over and chat with him while the bus just sat there. Good times.
We go to the game until halftime, leave to go see if we can find Cartel, find them and get distracted by the opening band (who I had just moments before learned their name). I knew it was them because they were driving a van pulling a little trailer. I said to them, "Hey! Are you guys The High Chord?!" And they were excited to tell me that they were. ... HA! Anyhoo. We went into the theatre where they were going to perform and somehow Jon figures out a way to get us backstage after the concert (yay connections). Cartel was again hanging out the bus window was we were leaving, but they were talking to the singer of the opening band and we were all too hungry to wait around. So we leave.
We (during this entire thing meaning Jess, Will, Jon and myself) come back for the concert after a brief adventure (Halloween shopping). A comedian came out first and was HILARIOUS. I forget about the concert altogether! But unfortunately The High Chord graced us with their playing and Jess high-fived the singer during their set... XD Then Cartel. At some point during their set they were taking a mini break and the singer made a Monty Python reference and asked if there were any fans, I cheered. And then the singer says "Your father smells of elderberries" and I yell out (not thinking at all of course), "And your mother's a hamster!" ..... He said, "Wait, what?" and pulls out the ear piece thing.. and I repeat, he laughs and says "Yeah that's it!". So uhm.. I definitely had a moment with the singer. In front of the entire crowd who was probably like.. "Why is she talking about a hamster??!? And why is he agreeing?!?!" XDD It was cute. Oh oh... and during a slow song, one of the guitarists didn't look like he was doing much so I waved to him and he waved back, albeit slightly confused. At the end of the show I somehow end up with a pick and the set list. Yes I know, I'm amazing.
After the show we wait around for Jon's brilliant plan but he disappears and we get kicked out by the cops.... And then I get a phone call to run around the back of the theatre and come in a side door because Jon just walked by Cartel. We do so and completely sneak backstage when you're supposed to have a wrist band to get back there... A cop asked us if we had then while we were back there and Jon saved the day. So we're hanging in a hallway because people won backstage passes and were getting autographs and crap. So we chatted up the singer from The High Chord who was definitely drunk. As Cartel was leaving I got them to sign my set list. They're all really really nice and cool, except for one of the guitarists who is too sexy his shirt. If you know what I mean.
