Dinner with Wenquan and Mr Sim was a sumptuous mushroom steamboat. Something like Singapore's Mushroom Pot, but at a much cheaper price (I think 1/4 the price - RMB231 for the 3 of us and thank you, Mr Sim, for the treat!) and much more variety of fresher mushrooms such as 松茸,羊肚菌,竹荪 etc. According to Mr Sim, 松茸 is expensive and 羊肚菌 is aphrodisiac. Hmmm... wonder how true is the latter... too bad, no chance to test out.
Our orders
The pot
竹荪
松茸 (the 2 small slices in the middle)
羊肚菌 the aphrodisiac
Steam egg (the 2 slices look like 松茸)
The good news came after dinner - Jodie confirmed that we got the train tickets for tomorrow. This means we will set off tomorrow and arrive Tibet 2 days later on the 14th and we have 2 days of free time before the actual tour begins on 16th. However, that also means that we won't have the chance to visit this place called 蜀南竹海. Came across this name on tv and thought it should be a nice place to go. Mr Sim and Jodie also confirmed that it is a destination that won much positive feedbacks from their customers. Guess this has to be left to the next trip (that is if I'm coming back Chengdu again).
