atlantis
so archeologists think theyve found atlantis. plato describes the interconnecting islands and city that make up atlantis as circular and extremely advanced in building and plumbing. they have hot and cold water, indoor lavatories, and an underground sewage system. he also says that palaces of atlantis are on surrounding islands, but hte main palace is on the innermost island, also circular. so archeologists first find a palace on crete with very advanced building for its age. it has two stories in some places (more than 400 or 500 years ahead of its time), and other such archeological miracles. the walls are reinforced to deal with earthquakes, materials like pavement are being created, etc.
so in an island (circular) further in the sea, they find a city older than even the one on crete. the building is also 1000 years ahead of its time. apart from having several 4 story buildings, has the most advanced sewwage sytem past even then, and other such fascinating things. like, the third story bathrooms first had the feces going down ceramic pipes, being flushed by runoff in the city streets, and the suction of the water creating a siphon to pull away the foul smells to the undergroudn resevoir; which, in turn, irrigated the fields. it gets better. in the temples of santorini (the innermost island) there is a mural of the vast city, connecting the palace and city found on crete and the surrounding islands. it describes a straneg wya of life.
