the will and sonny show

TPTB at DOOL are making me nervous. More writers were fired, specifically the same ones who've been writing Will's coming out. And co-exec producer Greg Meng said about women/romance in relation to the Will/Sonny storyline: "I think it's a beautiful story and we are committed to it. But probably it's not the story that most women are going to tune ( Read more... )

Dude, they are making me nervous. But... I'll just, you know, be happy there's coming out and tingly feelings and this post was perfection!

Aw, thanks, bb! :D

SO NERVOUS. They were doing so wonderfully with Will and Sonny and I was all :D :D :D about the way things were going. And now it's like bad deja vu and they better not fuck with things. >:| (Though the other storylines -- what little I've seen as I fast forward to get to the W/S -- really do look ridiculous and character-killing, but that's just the nature of soaps, so I didn't think anything of it, until, y'know, there were firings, wtf.)

Right? I know. I don't know how the best decision was to hire the same people you fired in the first place. Wtf, how is that going to help?

SRSLY. I loved how in-yo-face the interviewer was about that lol:

TV Guide Magazine: Why couldn't that be done with Darrell and Marlene? It's not like they were stinking up the joint. They seem to be a very promising team and their very best work - Will's coming-out story - is better than anything anyone in soaps has written in years. Surely there was something there worth retaining.

Meng: Marlene and Darrell brought such a fresh energy to Days and really honored the tradition and values of the show. They had an impossible job turning everything around on a dime. And they left us in a very good place.
THEN WHY DID YOU FIRE THEM.

TV Guide Magazine: After the firing, Marlene tweeted that NBC "never let us tell our stories. They kept stopping us and changing our direction." You got a comment?

Meng: I can't really address where she's coming from. She and Darrell loved the show so much and it became a part of their lives. We definitely want to retain a relationship with them.
His whole attitude there made me wanna punch him in the throat

Right? Such a diplomatic answer. That's so BORING. I totally had those "punch you in the throat" feelings. I think the best part of everything that's been said is that straight women want romance and they don't want to see a gay romance. What... the fuck. Because you know it's really those men that drive the gay male storylines -- oh, wait, IT'S NOT. Oh my god. That comment. So out of touch with the real world.
