*smokey cough*

• OMG, hello from SoCal, where we have gorgeous weather and actors by the name of Mr. Howard, but we also have omgscaryassfires this time of year. TWELVE current fires so far, I believe the last count was. Look at us funny and we'll burst into flames, yo. >.<

I'm v. safe, thank you all for the emails! We still have a Red Flag warning because of the winds, but so far no danger of evacuation. On the "upside", everything smells reallyreally good around here. It's like being in the middle of a campground. And the sky was vivid orange! The sunsets for the next weeks are gonna kick ass.

• I almost wouldn't mind all the ash covering everything if Gale & Randy: Firefighters showed up at my doorstep. ;D

• I take perverse joy in knowing that Gale is also suffering from major heat (100 degrees, WTF), no doubt coughing from all the smoke and doing his best to stand up straight from wind gusts like me. WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE THE SOCAL 2007 FIRES, GALEFACE. ♥

• There's the CA Fire News Blog for anyone interested. And latimes.com is also a good place for news/photos.

California Wildfires, 2007

None of these are mine. I've wisely heeded Fire Dept warnings and stayed away from fire areas. Even though my photo-snapping finger is itching like crazy. Instead I've been obsessing with watching the news and looking at photos for the past three days, so there's, um, quite a few here. :P

This one awed/freaked me out, had to include the caption: Twelve firefighters are trapped atop a ridge off Santiago Canyon Road in Orange County after flames jumped the road. The blaze roared up the hillside and prompted the crew members to deploy their fire shelters. They were surrounded by burning brush, but they made it out alive. "We just remained calm, everyone did," one firefighter said after he was checked out by paramedics. All of the firefighters were treated at the scene and did not want to go to the hospital. This is where I live and this is exactly how it looked Sunday.

They were safe! There are more animal photos floating about, but it's actually harder for me to see animals in danger than it is humans, so this is the only animal one here. :(

OMG MAGIC MOUNTAIN :S :S :S

How our skies looked during the middle of the day!

Residents and firefighters alike, I hope everyone is safe. ♥
