You lose some (Hopper)

Hopper died this evening, sometime after 4 PM. She was up and eating when we left for the mall, and down and dead when we got home.

It is likely that she died of hypothermia. I gave her a bath today to get all of the poopy gunk off of her rear end from when she had been wormy last week. That might have lowered her body temperature enough that once she lay down, she was too weak to get back up when the thunderstorm came. The heavy rain probably finished her off.

I'm kinda fragile-feeling about it, but not as upset as I thought I should be. I guess I have been ready for her to not make it for two weeks now. I suppose I've been psyching myself down about it ever since we came home and found her so anemic that she could barely walk. I really thought we had gotten this one beaten when she recovered from the edema and started walking again on Thursday, but now I know that baths are the wrong way to go.

Goat intestinal parasites suck (literally), and sometimes we just won't win.

... The cats know something is wrong. I'm sitting on my bed with my laptop, and I have three cats curled up around me. Pico is flopped at the door, guarding me from anything coming in.

dying, kids, angoras
