For those of you playing along with the farm game, I regret to report that the three chickens have met their end. The various explosions of feathers in the front yard are my main evidence; the lack of any chicken coming home is the supporting evidence ( Read more... )

Sorry about the hens. Chickens are excellent, but, sadly, expendable members of a farm's roster. We always allow for a certain percentage of "shrinkage" when we plan for our flock. Do you anticipate getting adults again, or possibly raising wee cheepies?

Yes, they were the expendables for the farm this year. They were neat, but I knew better than to love them.
I expect that I will get adults again. I may only get two next time, since three laid more eggs than we could eat.

Sorry the chickens went bye-bye so abruptly and yes, thank you for sharing the wealth of eggs - they were lovely and delicious. I hope to share some apple cake with you next I see you (really I mean, I will make apple cake next time I know I will see you).
