On a clear day I could goat forever

This morning was one of those perfect fall mornings where mood and weather matched. I stepped out into a morning that was so crisp and calm it almost had edges. The day around me was absolutely clear, with a slashing gold sunrise completing the view up the slope. The goats could all feel the perfection of the day, and were just a little calmer, a little less inclined to shove each other around. Katie-goat and Cookie shared a bowl for a while. So did Dahlia and Mona. Everyone got a full serving and then some, but no one stressed about who got more. Though he is going on towards two years old, Goblin insisted on his finger-nibbles again this morning. So we communed for a moment in the sunshine, talking about nothing in particular. By the time I left the field, Loki and Jared had settled into being a no-legged, two-headed lump of goat that lounged against the fence for some masticating meditation. Alys followed me to the gate, more as though she were keeping me company than looking for food. I really didn't want to leave.

goats, angoras
