I found out when I got back from lunch that today was Wear Purple for Spirit Day, specifically in support of GBLT teenagers and in protest of recent bullying-based suicides. (

I had no idea. I also am not sure I'm glad that I am identified as "one of them" today. Not that I deliberately wouldn't wear purple to support GBLT teens, mind you, but because it seems so pointless. If I were really going to make a true effort about supporting GBLT teenagers, I should get off my butt and go volunteer for an organization, go be a counselor, go raise funds/donations, or go lobby for legal/rules changes. Picking an outfit that I normally wear anyway seems... lost...
So I went over to the GLAAD website and made a donation. That made me feel better. Sending money to a good cause makes me feel a little less like another MeToo! in a purple shirt, sitting in my comfortable office chair in a world removed from the teenage angst in the harshly lit hallways of an unforgiving institution.
