Music sharing

I suppose everyone finds out about music differently. I used to find the radio (Triple J) and very late nights on video hits to meet most of my needs (maybe 5 years ago) for fulfilling my thirst for new music, new artists, for emerging artists and things I wouldn't hear about normally.

And Napster commmunities was really good for that too - heaps of people would easily recommend, or you could look up people with similar files/tastes to you and jump on with some of the stuff you hadn't heard.

But over the years these sources have died down or become null for me. Of course there's your usual less effective methods of friends and word of mouth.

So how do I find new music now?

Well; there's been two places of major contribution to my eclectic music tastes, and I figure I might as well share them with you; as I have found them immensely rewarding.

Always On The Run is a website that I found many years ago when I was desperately looking for song lyrics of artists that weren't particularly popular and coming up naught. And I kept coming back to this site for multiple artists I liked, and decided well - why not try some of the other stuff they have there?

It's not your usual lyrics website, it's more of a tribute website to every artist the webmaster loves/likes, with bios and biographies and new stuff coming up all the time. It's a fantastic resource, and I have found some fantastic stuff through there. Mostly long before anything I heard there hit the radio or a big film.

Another one I found not too long ago but have mostly exhausted as the webmaster no longer maintains it is Secret Music Box. A blog that I quite enjoyed, but it is no longer maintained which is absolutely lame. I tried looking up other music blogs but came up against rubbish and trash and difficult to navigate squalor endelessly and gave up.

So what do you use to find new music? Want to share? I'd love to know. :)
