Today I took the GREs. The GREs are lame. I was hoping to do as well on them as I did on the SATs, but I didn't. I don't have any idea what my score means. I got a 1210...is that good? I think it's probably ok ( Read more... )

That's actually a good score. Depending on what in music you want to do, they may not even care about GRE scores. Only about half of the schools I applied to needed them. I did a lot worse and still got into grad school. Then again, I heard they've changed them since I took them.

yah, I think it's out of 1600, like the SATs. How long was the test?

Yeah, it's out of 1600.

There were two essays- one you could spend 45 minutes on, and the other, 30. Then there was a verbal section and a math section. The thing is, it's a computer test, so once you pick an answer, you can't go back to it. I always do that on standardized tests! But it's hard to judge how much time you will need. You don't want to spend too much time at the beginning of the test in case you need more time on a question later. But the questions at the beginning of the test are the ones that really count towards your score. I finished both those sections with a lot of time to spare.

Then the GRE gives you an optional section, but I was so nervous that it wasn't really optional i did it. I feel like i did better on that section than the other ones.

The test is supposed to take 4 hours, but I think I did it in more like 3 or 3.5
