My first post, an all over the place fanfiction. Which stars Superman and Batman, possibly in a slashy combination, possibly not. Time will tell. Also stars my favourite angel, and later my favourite demon too, also, possibly slashy. This is a bit of an homage to Igorina on fanfiction.net, I hope if she ever finds out I'll be forgiven.
Oh, and before we start. I don't own any of them, except the Fool and the librarian.
Literal Leap
Prologue
Superman and Batman had jointly pursued the Joker, Harley Quinn and a new associate of theirs, the Fool, into Metropolis Central Library. They chased them for what seemed like miles, darting between bookcases and making hurried apologies to the librarian when they accidentally knocked books off shelves and inconvenienced readers.
They nearly knocked over a man with blond hair and blue eyes, who was wearing an extraordinary amount of tweed by the way, as the Joker was spotted going into one of the older sections.
"No!" He'd shouted, quietly, it was a library after all, "you mustn't go in there!"
Neither of them heard him as they rushed headlong between the winding shelves of the oldest and most unstabled section of the library, where the books were chained onto the shelves. There was a brief flash of light and a long and ominous silence. The blond man hurried after them, seeing exactly what he had hoped wouldn't have happened.
They'd gone, all five of them. Just disappeared, with little to no explanation of where they'd gone.
The librarian walked up to the blond man.
"They've gone, haven't they Mr Fell?" he asked, to be frank; the man looked like he'd been around when Caxton invented the printing press.Given what had just happened, and who he was talking to, it wasn't that hard to imagine.
"Yes, I'm afraid they have," Mr Fell replied sullenly, spotting a book on the ground and wandering towards it.
"Any idea where they've gone?"
"I'm afraid I do," he picked up the book and turned to show the cover to the librarian. He gasped.
"The poor fellows, do you think they'll survive?"
"I hope so, this world wouldn't be the same without them." The blond carefully handed the librarian the book. "Keep this somewhere safe."
The librarian nodded, he had a heavy lead lined box against this very eventuality."Are you going to go after them?" The blond nodded. "Well, good luck Mr Fell."
"Tell Jason I'm sorry to have missed our appointment."
"Of course Mr Fell, of course."
The blond man nodded and walked into the bookshelf, dissolving into it. This was followed by a brief flash of light, as most magic in this world was. The librarian looked down at the book in his hands. The cover read, 'Achmed The I-Just-Get-These-Headaches' Book of Humourous Cat Stories'. He looked at the bookshelf where Mr Fell had disappeared.
"Rather you than me, Mr Fell. Rather you than me."
Until Next Time...
It wasn't too bad was it?
