(no subject)
alright. i know you have all been dying to know how i am getting on here at wesleyan, and i finally have the time to tell you. in a nutshell, fabulous!!
my roommate is named janani, and is an interesting mix of european, indian, jamaican, chinese, costa rican, french, native american and prolly a bunch of other things that i can't remember. (she looks indian to me, but she says that in pasadena where whe is from she is often thought to be hispanic.) she likes harry potter, eddie izzard, and has a poster on the wall of stewie griffin saying "you suck!" she is a sophomore, but i think i get along better with people who are not my own age if i haven't known them forever. it is weird.
the people in my house are pretty awesome, too. there are two lifeguards other than myself, who room together, emma and katherine. emma is on the fast track to kindred spirit status. most of the other people in the house are really nice and cool, too, except for two boys who do crew (which is why they are here during orientation) who kind of avoid the rest of us. we played boggle last night, and friday after emma and i and some others go to shabbat dinner we are going to play scrabble!! hurrah!!
i have also met a second half of myself, annina. we have the same taste in food, movies, music, television (read: firefly!!). we have the same opinions, we knit, etc. and it is fully crazy. unfortunately she lives halfway across campus, but so does everyone else, because we are on the edge of the wesleyan earth.
oh! did i mention - all the people thus far mentioned are also transfer students, except for 'the crew boys.and if ever we are walking along and hear the word 'transfer' in our vicinity we all say hello and and chat. so friendly!!!
this is an enormously long post, and i dont wish to overwhelm too much, so i will cut it short and tell more in the next installment. i'll prolly talk about the academics, but i am open to requests for info.
