It has been almost 6 months since my last real entry. I apologize, livejournal, for neglecting you. You've been so good to me, recording my life so I can go back and make fun of myself later.
Let me make it up to you.
November 2009
Let's see, I worked on my bike a bit.
I added cloth tape and shellacked it. I almost made myself sick with fumes which wasn't too smart. But it turned out nice!
I spent my first Thanksgiving away from home. Tim and I went to Northern CA to spend it with his family. His family was friendly and the food was good, but I admit I missed some of the food my mom normally makes for Thanksgiving. =]
We took a group trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum and stopped over by the GG Bridge. It was fun, even though it rained while we were there.
Tim and I went to the explOratorium in SF and it was a blast. I love science museums and this one was basically the king of the science museums. It was so amazing. If you ever go, I also highly suggest paying extra and going inside the "tactile dome". It's basically an obstacle course of sorts that you have to navigate in complete darkness, seeing only with your hands.
December 2009
I put up my very first Christmas tree away from home. It's fake because real trees are expensive and I don't like the smell of pine. Also I secretly feel bad for all the trees being cut down.
Tim and I drove up to Big Bear to enjoy some snow, but because we are poor, we just ended up making a snowman on some public property on a residential street, haha!
My friends had a Holiday party with a white elephant gift exchange. This is Stee with her gift... $10 inside a box of pee, courtesy of the gift giver, Roger.
Christmas came and I spent it with my family, first at Dad's house, then at Mom's. My sister Kerri came down from Washington, too, which is always a treat. Also, since my mom got a new cat she's become a bit of a cat lady, this picture as proof.
My sister Kerri's birthday is 2 days after Christmas so we were able to celebrate with her as well... but on her actual birthday.....
We went to Disneyland!
We took my nephew Jayden on Pirates and he only whined once. Not bad for a 13-month-old!
Of course my mom has to get a picture of her girls. These are my 2 older sisters Kerri and Angela from my mom's side. I also have 2 younger sisters on my dad's side.
New Year's this year was low-key but fun. It was spent with a few friend and some delicious snacks.
January 2010
I was in a play at UCI called The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance. This is me on the right as Nurse Sandwich. I was also a Pinhead and Princess Alexandria.
February 2010
My friend Rob had a 90s birthday party, which is one of my favorite types of birthday party. I love busting out my old Weezer, Nirvana, and Green Day (pre-Nimrod, ugh) shirts and old skool vans and whatnot. Flannel kept me warm that night. =]
March 2010
I took Advanced Directing Winter quarter. This is one of the highlights of a scene I directed, haha. It was from a short play called The Facts of Life by Mark Niel. I had fun with this one and even made dick and vagina cookies as props.
I was in a play called Lost and Found: The Herbert Siguenza Project. It was an ensemble piece that we created along the way with Herbert Siguenza from Culture Clash. It was a play we put together out of interviews we conducted with people about the subject of survival. I interviewed my sister's father-in-law who has a terminal case of colon cancer. This is me portraying him.
Because my boyfriend is a little crazy, him and our friend Seneca rode their bikes from Lancaster, CA to Las Vegas. I drove out and picked them up there. We spent a couple days and visited Tim's family and some friends and visited the new City Center, which was just whatever.
We went bowling!
We played bingo! Are we getting old or what?
I basically finished my touring bike (I've gotten a new Tubus rear rack since then, thanks Tim!) and we went on a 4-day trip around San Luis Obispo County. Woo reflective tires!
We brought a girl named Cheryl who Tim and I didn't really know, but she was cool and it was good times.
Our destinations were:
Day 1- Drive from Irvine to SLO, then ride to Santa Margarita Lake.
Day 2- Santa Margarita Lake to Templeton. We ended up camping on some private land because there was nowhere to stay. We asked them if it was okay, of course!
Day 3- Templeton to San Simeon State Beach.
Day 4- San Simeon State Beach to SLO and drive back to Irvine.
We hit an approx. 23% grade at one point which we had to walk. This ride was intense but it was fun overall.
April 2010
Easter was pretty much the same as every year. My sister Angela and her family came up to my mom's house. This is a video of my nephew being a dog, which is his new favorite thing to do. He probably did this at least 10 times, just making laps around the house.
I went to my friend Soren's birthday party which was an S theme. I was a Semi-truck driver. My friend Alise is Sixteen and Pregnant. =]
Ugh. Tim and I got bedbugs!!!! I still have marks on my body from all of the bites I got. Apparently Tim isn't allergic so he has nothing. So we got a mattress encasement and moved our bed into the living room. We busted out the cardboard boxes we had to move with and washed 11 loads of clothing and bedding. After washing them, we put everything in the boxes in a sort of quarantine. We vacuumed EVERYTHING. We moved out in the beginning of May and I haven't had any new bites since we moved everything around. Thank goodness! But apparently the bugs can live for a year without eating so hopefully we don't have any more problems when we take all of our stuff out of storage and move into a new place. We are crashing at our friends' place on campus until our bike trip in June.
I directed my first full-length play at UCI called Stop Kiss by Diana Son. Oh my goodness, it went so much better than I could have hoped! My cast was amazing. I ended up having to do scenic/props and program the lights on top of directing the show, so it kept me extremely busy. Tim was the sound designer for the show and also did a great job. It was such a good experience and I feel really good about it. I also took the photos. =]
May 2010
Tim and I moved all of our stuff into storage and only kept out what we would need for the next 5 weeks. After graduation we're going on our 10-week bike trip!
Tim's aunt Teresa was in town for a conference and was nice enough to take us to Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. The food was so good and it was really fun. The characters come visit you at your table every few minutes. It was cute. This is Thomas, Tim's cousin's son.
I wore this to some art shows as a favor for a friend. Kind of silly but kind of cool, too. I forgot the name of the designer, oops!
This picture is from a bike rally at UCI for bike to work week. Yes, that is a dog in his BOB trailer. So cute.
I was second shooter for a wedding in Redlands on Saturday. I got paid $200 for it and the girl said she wanted to use me again in the future, which rules.
So there's the update! I hope you enjoyed it. I will be graduating college and Tim and I are also leaving for our summer bike trip in less than a month!!! Of course I'll be posting pictures from that. We will probably have a separate blog for our trip but I will post a link for that here.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
