Happy Year of the Cock!
...which celebrates 365 days of awesome phallic jokes!
So myself being a cocker (1981), I am a pioneer in spirit and hard working, but tend to be selfish and lonely. Rat and hare are fine. But I must beware the snake! I've found it to be much easier to give in my personality to the various date/time/prefecture astrological assignments from when I was born. Being a Taurus by birth month, I guess that just makes me a big Cock and Bull.
I actually found myself celebrating Chinese New Year inadvertently by going to the Chinese restaurant yesterday. I noticed something was amiss when I stepped in the door to find a giant untouched feast sitting there (my appetite for the food ruined by the three smoldering sticks of patchouli incense) The owner of the shop informed me that it was in fact Chinese New Year's Eve, and then proceeded to tell me all about the day and thanking Buddha for the blessings of the year past.
Now normally I don't like other's beliefs being thrust upon me, but to my recollection noone worshipping Buddha is currently drafting legislation to ban gay marriage, so I figured I'd listen. It really was quite interesting and I told her I thought it was "cool" and "excellent", which was the only things I could think to say in reply. Then I thanked her for the blessings of my Mu Shu Pork and headed home.
So having missed the opportunity to use the Gregorian New Year to think about the last year of my life, this experience did make me reflect a little bit on where I've been for the last 12 months. This March is the 2nd anniversary of my college graduation, and the year and a half mark of employment at the furniture shop. It's been a fun ride though I do wish I was making more money, though being poor can be fun in a lot of ways especially when you feel like you've treated yourself by buying a combo meal instead of ordering off the 99 cent menu. For the year ahead I'd like to find a job doing bookkeeping somewhere, and find the time to make a fursuit for myself. (though we have a pair of suits planned for next FC...)
