Gorillaz - Demon Days

Gorillaz is a funky little side project by Damon Alburn (of Blur fame), which has now released two full-length albums. Gorillaz isn't really a band, but it's not a solo project; Alburn gets a whole bunch of musicians to contribute, and creates a "virtual band", with all the media and visual representations done by four cartoon characters.

Now, the self-titled debut album was great. I listened the shit out of that disc. The remix/B-sides to it (amusingly titled "G-Sides") was also a solid little disc. The new one, however? Well, I'm disappointed.

I can't say I've listened that closely, but its really lacking the funk that drew me to their older work. Gone are the sweet bass-lines, gone is the sense of "play" that I got, its just.....well, I don't know what it is. Not the same, and not what I'm looking for. Not to say there are no good songs on this album, but you'd be better off just grabbing "Feel Good Inc." from iTunes, and save yourself the money.
