Yes, it is really Tigger the Terrible, but look at those eyes. Trust me, people *melt*. Went to dinner last night and sat out on the patio so Tigger could hang out, and OMG THE PEOPLE. Not just the women too! I told Travis if he goes out without me, his default line is "My wife bought me this puppy for my birthday!" Which is true ;) Cardinal rule #1? Never buy a puppy for a gift. Except if your last black lab passed away unexpectedly 5 years ago and it is just time. It took about 6 months for this to come about, and still hasn't sunk in that it's here, but he's awesome, and we love him. Little bugger slept all the way through the night, and yeesh, he won't wake you up because he has to potty, he wants to EAT! Like a hungry hungry hippo, all the frickin' time!
Peach loves him. She loves pasture runs more, so it was a nice balance of the puppy exists and then Peach just running off to run. She play bows to him which is pretty cute. She's super gentle with him, good girlie.
Those droopy ears - where's the lift?! ;)
I have to keep reminding myself NO TUGGING. Gah, that's a hard one. But he's gonna be a duck hunting machine. I am pretty excited to learn, and Travis is not keen on force fetching, which makes me really really happy.
So after I have raised the last 3 puppies with Travis following my aussie puppy rules, the tables have turned, and I am just trying to soak in this gun dog world. Lots of impulse control. Tons of praise. Very interesting to see how this journey goes.
But I get to be the fun parent this time ... :)
Some photos of Mom and Dad ...
Momma Dyna - 12 days before she had puppies picking up birds. I am fascinated by dogs (and horses) that love what they are bred to do. So cool to watch a good team. Trent bred Dyna to Hank to "tone down" her drive. Hahahha, drive, my best friend ;)
Isn't Hank, the sire, a handsome dude?! I just love him. There are some good shots of him with kids too. Super temperaments on this cross.
A lot of athleticism. Just nice, balanced dogs. I hope he has his dad's head - hubba hubba!
And the pedigree, which is so foreign to me. Interesting how important hunting titles are in the lab world. Travis' dog Ringo was a full sibling to Mississippi Magnolia V (the Ford x Kate cross was one for the history books in terms of AKC & UKC hunting titles apparently). Nice to have a relative in the house.
