A Little Summary Of My 2006

Dec 31, 2006 14:18

Well, 2006 brought me good times and bad times. Just like any year, i suppose. There were moments I didn't want to end, and there were those moments I wished would end but seemed to last forever and a half. 2006 was actually a pretty good year for me.
I met new people and made new friends, and seemed to drift apart from other good friends.

This summer was a ton of fun. I gained a sense of trust from my parents when they went to Colorado for a week and let me stay home alone and take care of the house and everything. That felt so good to know that they actually trust me that much. I also made a bunch of friends hanging out at Zap Zone. I even had myself a little summer fling... if you could call it that haha. Yes, it did hurt for that to end, but with the sadness came something much better. I realize things aren't always going to go the way I want them to, so I guess that made me a better person. I'm finally with a great guy who i couldn't be happier to be with. Honestly though, he is the last person i thought i'd end up with, but he treats me right and now I can't picture myself being with anyone else. :)

At the end of the year things finally seem to be falling into place and I'm really happy with my life right now. I'm finally going to a major university, and I have chosen a career path that I'm really enjoying so far. I hope everything works out with that. I'm having so much fun up at school, and I am loving the freedom. I've been learning a lot up there and am having the time of my life. I know i'll keep these memories forever (that is so cliche sounding, but whatever, it's true and you know it)! Central is known as a party school, and as such i had to experience that for myself haha. I went to 2 parties, and I'll admit, i got drunk at one of them. That was interesting. That was my first time being drunk, or even remotely tipsy.. It was fun and all, but honestly i don't think i could do that all the time like some people do. It's just not really worth it to get wasted and not remember what you did the night before, although i do remember pretty much everything from that entire night. I drank a lot of water and sobered up by the end of the night, so i didn't even get a hang over. But yeah, i'm done partying like that for a while.

In the fall I lost my cat Cooter. He got really sick and we had to put him down. That was probably the saddest part of my whole year, because on top of that, i was dealing with other emotional parts of my life and I was feeling sort of depressed. It was not a fun time. I can say that Cooter has been my favorite cat, ever. He was the coolest, fluffiest, most awesomest cat ever and I still miss him so much. We still have Toby, my little orange kitty, but it's just not the same. I can tell Toby misses Cooter too. After Cooter passed, Toby became more loving and friendly toward me and my family.

My birthday this year was a milestone birthday lol. I'm finally 20 and no longer a teenager. That took some time for me to get used to because it just feels weird to think that i'm no longer a teenager and finally more of an adult. Next year is 21, baby! haha, I don't think that's going to be that big of a deal though, since i'm not really a partier.

I got even more into the Red Wings this year because of Anthony, and now I can't stand to miss a game on TV. Anthony is my place to go for all Wings info, because he is a complete hockey database. He knows pretty much everything there is to know about the sport! I also got to go to my second Wings game on February 1st. It was against the St. Louis Blues, and we won 3-2. We had awesome 7th row seats!

In 2006 I was introduced to a lot of new music, which is awesome. I love hearing new stuff. Anthony got me totally addicted to Deftones and Porcupine Tree. I also went to quite a few concerts this year. I don't think I'll be able to remember them all, but i do have a bunch of tickets here on my bulletin board, let's see here.... in March I saw The Academy Is... WSG/ Panic! At the Disco, Acceptance, and Hellogoodbye (though we were late and missed hellogoodbye). In April I saw Fall Out Boy WSG/ Hawthorne Heights, All American Rejects, and From First to Last. In July I saw O.A.R. WSG/ Jack's Mannequin. That was my first exposure to Jack's Mannequin and after that I had to get their cd because i loved their stuff. In August I saw Dashboard Confessional. I can't remember who opened for them though. In October i went and saw New Found Glory WSG/ The Early November, and Cartel. That was a fun concert, though i'm not really into New Found Glory. Cartel and The Early November were fun. I also saw John Mayer, but I can't remember what month that was. It was sometime during school... i know that much. Then this month, December, I went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra with Katy and some other people. So all in all, this was a good year for concerts.

In the end I must say I'm pretty pleased with my 2006, and i'm hoping for even more in 2007.
