[Marta sat in one of the large chairs in the common room, staring at the fire. She was there before lunch, just as Alfred had asked, knees to her chest with her chin resting on them.]

[Alfred could just see the top of Marta's head from the stairs as he came down from his dormitory, and he smiled, endeavoring to be as quiet as possible. He padded over to Marta's chair, holding his hands behind his back. When he was close enough, he leaned around the back of the chair, kissing the top of Marta's head and grinning.] Happy Valentine's day.

Happy Valentine's day. [Marta responded, not even trying to suppress the grin that split across her features as Alfred made his presence known.] Did you get my flowers?

You sent the roses, right? [He asked with a grin, sidling up beside Marta's chair, keeping his hands carefully hidden.] I got them. Thanks for not sending a gnome.

I didn't think you'd like a gnome, anyway. [She moved over so he could have room to sit... though his hands behind his back were looking mighty suspicious.] You can sit down if you want.

I didn't like the gnomes, [Alfred agreed, perching himself half on the arm of Marta's chair.] And I thought you'd like your gifts delivered in person. [He pulled his hands out from behind his back, revealing a heart-shaped box of chocolates and a folded sheet of parchment.] Happy Valentine's Day, Marta.

They're a little insulting, yeah. [She giggled... only to cut herself off, her eyes widening as Alfred presented her with chocolate! And what could have been a letter (or something)!] Alfred~! [She figured she'd read the parchment later, as she quickly got up on her knees and threw her arms around his neck.] You shouldn't have!

But I did. [Alfred wrapped his arms around Marta in return, chocolate and all.] I thought you might like them.

I love anything you get me! [She nuzzled the side of his face with her nose, kissing his cheek.] Thank you sooo much!
