Teksavvy Solutions Tech support: Very helpful, recommended!!
Linksys (Cisco Systems): Not helpful at all!!!
SO yesterday, I've had internet problems with my cable internet service provider Teksavvy. For some reason, the internet just stops and it appears to be the DHCP renewal issue. I read from some consumer forums that some customers have the same problem. Not certain if it is Teksavvy itself or Shaw Cable as Teksavvy leased their internet lines from Shaw Cable or so I heard.
Anyway, I called them this morning and I waited for fifteen minutes until a very nice Tech support lady called Ashley answered. She handled my problem professionally and efficiently and in no time, my internet is up and running! SO yay! Very impressed!
What takes the cake even better is later on, I realized that my Wireless router seems to fail as well. No matter how many times I restart the damn router, the router does not connect to the internet even though my internet monitor in my Macbook shows it is active. I connected manually through cable from the modem to my Macbook and the internet flows, but when i connect it via the router either wirelessly or through the cable, it just does not route the internet traffic at all! I brought it to London Drugs, the canadian retail store which I bought the LINKSYS Wireless router from (Part of the Cisco Systems Group) and they were very kind but they said they cannot help me as they do not have any place to test the router and the model that I have, it is a Wireless-G router is several years old already which they no longer have in stock. THey suggests I called Cisco Systems or Linksys instead for support.
SO I went home to call Linksys aka Cisco Systems tech support and lo and behold I get connected to some call centre in India of course. No surprise there. The person is professional enough but the guy on the Linksys tech support says my warranty for the WIreless Router has expired so he offered me two payment option, either pay USD$29.90 for a one time support or USD$39.90 for a six months support. There are freaking new advanced and speedy Wireless ROuters that I can buy from London Drugs at those prices! Obviously I said screw it, I ain't paying that price for only I am sure a quick fix!
Guess what I did? I called Teksavvy tech support again and ask them politely if they can help me with my wireless router problem even though it is not theirs to support. This was what took the cake! The guy actually helped me by telling me the steps I can take to get the wireless router working again and It did! I am using it right now writing this experience on my blog!!
So ladies and guys, in short, I fully recommend Teksavvy for your internet service provider. Firstly, it is no contract. Secondly, they offer cheaper and just as fast internet service as Shaw Cable and thirdly, I am posting my recent March billing from TekSavvy, there is virtually no hidden fees at all! What they offer for their plans is what you pay (except for the taxes of course). In fact, it is even weird, I even got a discount somehow without even asking for it ever and even knowing it! As you can see below, my monthly plan is CAD$29.95 but somehow the current charges that I was supposed to pay is CAD$27.62. This is even without any credit to my account balance, no discount given (as far As i know) and even removing the Harmonized Sales Tax for British Columbia, Canada!
