So, it's been two weeks since Mom died. My sister and brother arranged a memorial service for Wednesday but it was at a location the buses didn't travel to. Which meant I had a choice of skipping it or of catching lifts from people.
My mother-in-law was willing to take me to the service but I would have had to waited for my sister or brother to drive me home. I don't want to be alone with my sister because if she starts in on Carvis or Mouse I'm going to lose it. Same thing if she says anything about our sister. I was also looking at the fact that almost everyone there would have been strangers. I didn't know Mom's friends. Hey, I barely know my sister and brother now. Also, it's a memorial service, which means some religious speeches as well.
So I decided not to go. No surprise, I haven't heard from my sister or brother since.
Le sigh.
Oh well, life goes on, right? Well, Carvis got back his income tax so we decided to get the wood and build a scratching post for our cats. So I called my mother-in-law to arrange for a trip to the hardware store only to find out she was taking her dog in that day to be put down. He had been having increasingly worse health issues and finally just stopped eating. Poor Dusty. He had lived a good long life though, he was 16 years old. Still a sad day so I didn't ask for the lift. We did get out yesterday though and got the wood. However, the cutting shop is closed on the weekend, wish I had known, so we need to wait for one of Carvis's brothers to come over with his tools to drill a hole in the base and post. Then , hopefully, Saisha will stop scratching my walls and door frames.
Carvis says he started scratching those because we got rid of the shelf unit he had been scratching. I say otherwise so this will show who is right. If all Sai wants is a good scratching post then he'll leave the doors and walls alone. If I'm right, he'll continue to go after the walls and doors, especially to wake us in the morning.
Tomorrow I need to remember to call my doctor and let him know it's getting difficult to sleep on my sides. It's just a FYI but maybe he'll move up the date of the CT scan. I have a feeling I'm at the point where I need the next surgery.
We're being warned that a major storm is moving into the area and is expected to hit on Wednesday. It's coming up the coast and looks a lot like White Juan did back in '94. I just hope we don't lose power because we spent a lot of Carvis's income tax return on meat and I would hate to lose any of it. We can't afford to replace it. Which reminds me, I need to fill a couple of bottles with water and drop them into the deep freeze. They are supposed to help keep the temperature in it cold if the power goes out so that the food doesn't thaw.I don't know if that's true but it doesn't hurt to try it anyway. It will also give us some fresh water just in case we need it too.
Ah, Spring. Always an interesting time in the Maritimes.
