In Two and a Half Weeks
the cats turn 2. So, today they got weighed.
Ilara was easy, I just picked her up and carried her into the bathroom and stepped on the scales. She's 10 pounds now, only a 2 pound gain from February's weighing. I need to get her measured so I can see how long she is as well. I think she's close to 3 feet because she has a nice long tail. Last measurement had her a bit under 2 and a half feet but she was slightly curled too.
Saisha was fine being picked up but when I headed for the bathroom, he struggled to get away. I was going to leave the door open but he's a handful so I closed it. The pitiful meows started. I got the scales and weighed him, I think I caught the numbers right because he was squirming. Then I opened the door and let him out. Ilara was right there, eyes wide and meowing for him. So he's now about 18 pounds, up 3 pounds from Feb. His last measurement had him a bit over 3 feet.
Getting them to lay still long enough to measure them is hard because they're curious and want to sniff the measuring tape and see what I'm doing. Maybe Mouse can help me do it soon. But I think they're at full growth. So they are probably half or at weakest quarter Maine Coon.
The record holder for the longest cat in the world, a Maine Coon male at 48.5inches, died earlier this year from cancer. He was 8. A short life since most Maine Coons live on average over 12 years. The way Saisha was growing his first year I was wondering if he'd match the record. Now I doubt it. I think he'll max out around 3 and a half feet at the most and Ilara will probably be around 2 and a half. maybe 2 and 3/4. Then again, I am horrible at judging measurements by eye so they both could be longer than I think they are.
Also need to take some pics of them on their birthday. *sighs* Taurus cats in a house with a Taurus otter, a Capricorn vixen and Capricorn mouse, and a Scorpio panther. Hmmm, Scorpio, that explains a few things. And yes I go with the classic zodiac signs not the way they've changed them. Although, ironically enough, Carvis is still a Taurus. He's just unable to get away from being a bull in any zodiac. :P
