Jones blinked the rain from his eyes - her rain, sweet and soft as spring, like vitriol upon his heart.

Oooh, I loved that line!

Elizabeth saw James crumple, saw him slump to the deck beneath Mercer’s cruel blow

Oh, no. :-(

Behind her she heard someone shout her name, but didn’t turn to see who, for as the Dutchman came around and her guns were run out, Elizabeth seized her chance and flew.

I can just see her doing that - a great moment.

For a second he froze solid, but then he saw her - black against grey - like a spider making her way up the stern of Jones’ cursed ship. He grinned, and felt his heart split jaggedly between pride and terror.

I so enjoy the moments where Jack watches Lizzie be all piratey. And I think he does, too. ;-)

Resentment and… With a strange sense of unease, Jack recognised the other emotion as hurt. Betrayal.

Awwwwww. Poor Cutler. *pets*

“We know it’s here. Tell me where, or die. The dead, after all, are easier to search than the living.”

Steady on, Will! He's an eager bug, inne?

Hee thanks, hon. :) Lots of action from here on in. And no one's story is over yet...

So glad you're still reading and enjoying! Almost at the end now!

But Jones had no time to ponder it, for his attention was drawn inexorably toward the dull ache that never eased - toward the pain of her betrayal, lodged in his still wretchedly beating heart. He had lived so long without it, he wondered if his heart still held power of life and death over him. Could a knife through such a distant piece of flesh really cause him harm?

Loved this paragraph....enough said...I hope.

With each blow she dealt him, she saw her father’s face - saw his joy turn to pain and to glass-eyed death. Felt the warmth of his blood upon her fingers. Mercer stumbled, she pressed the advantage, driving home a two handed blow that he barely parried and then-

Go on lizzie, you get him.

And then, through the storm, rose a monster. Close on the starboard bow the lethal prow of the Flying Dutchman surged from the deep, its massive shadow plunging them into darkness, and the pervasive stench of death washing out in foul waves

Always likes to make a big entrance doesnt it? And you've captured it perfectly.

and Jack ( ... )

Hee! I'm rediculously happy if we've given you a Jack/Beckett obsession! We did it to ourselves too, writing this! LOL More on that in the next chapter.

I'm so pleased you're still enjoying this, and your comments are always so fun to read. Not long to go until the end now. :( But no doubt this won't be the last fic...;)

Very tense action here, was like being on a roller-coaster. I liked the contrast of deep bitterness that Jones and Beckett both still harbour compared to the freedom Jack has obtained from his forgiveness and compassion. I am not sure there would be any demons if Jack returned to the locker now he seems to have exorcised them all :-D. Loved the ending too I hope Elizabeth is ok and comes round to finish Mercer off once and for all :D

Thanks so much, I'm so pleased that you're enjoying these action chapters. They can be quite a challenge to write!

I'm really pleased you picked up on the contrast between Beckett and Jone's bitterness, and Jack's ability to forgive - it's really the central theme of our story. :)

A few more chapters to go before we discover everyone's fate! I hope you enjoy where we take it in the end...

Dearluly beloved GOD!! How DARE you end the chapter now?!?! So brilliant, so breathtaking, so... Guh! Me loves every word, ladies, every single one!!

Jack is the light of this chapter, isn't he? Feels like the fun!Jack in CotBP, just lovely! And, boy, I absurdly love the way you write Beckett - I can hear Tom Hollander saying every line. You've made a Speckett shipper out of this Sparrabeth-addicted xD

Loved the battle sequences too: PotC-like in the sense of being graphic enough, intense and makes-your-heart-race type. Might be because I watched "Dark Knight" recently, but that last scene between Mercer and Will reminded me of Batman and the Joker. *imagines Heath Ledger as Mercer* Scary!

Can't wait for Sunday, yet sad it's nearing the end... Do we get J/E smut before it's over?

Oh thanks so much! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it so much. Sorry for the cliff hanger (or two!). *g*

I'm so pleased that you liked Jack here - and felt he was more like his CotBP self. That's exactly what we were going for! And as for the 'Speckett'! Hee! I'm so pleased to have converted you to our little kink, a bit more on that coming up soon!

Thanks as always for reading and taking the time to comment. :)

The line that I loved and could just hear Jack saying:
Just you and me. To death or glory, what say you to that?”

Another wonderful chapter; I can't wait to see how this is all going to work out.
