Tutorial Time

dancingraphics asked me how I did those lighting effects on my latest icon batch.

Original cap, I erased the background, cropped, sharpened the image and coloured it.
Before colouring -> after.

Then I made a gradient (G). Set to soft light.

Duplicated the same gradient (crtl + j) I moved it around and set to colour burn.

Made a new layer, and using the gradient tool once again made a white streak. Set to soft light.

Finally made another streak, this time using an orange colour. Set to pin light and placed under the two previous gradient layers. Not really a big difference.

Finished icon.

My layer palette.

The same effect was used for these, with variations.

In the first icon I placed a black and white gradient in place of the orange streak.

Gradients used. If you want to use the last two you have to save them on your computer because copying and pasting into photoshop screws them up.
