I have found a wee problem with my novel. My characters are living in a bubble. My novel covers four years, and I dont think my characters have mentioned any major pokitical, humantarian, climate related etc... events which happened between 2006-and now when the book takes place ( Read more... )

Umm.. what about the Tsunami? I don't think you guys would be too concerned with the Hurricane Katrina news.

Also what about 9-11? That was an event that affected the world.

Good points, although both were way before 2006. Katrina would be worth looking into more though, thanks!

Oh.. you're right. Sorry Laura! lol I had just watched something today with the top news stories of the decades

Hey what about Barak Obama becoming President? Al Gore and his global warming talks (not sure of the year on that one), Michael Jackson's death? Heath Ledger's death? Farrah Fawcett's Death?

Of course, Obama would be big news! And I will def think more about the others. I think HL and MJ too, but probs not FF.

Yea, I wasn't sure how it would work overseas. I think MJ would have been big news as he was known world wide. Heath Ledger maybe, not sure how much he was known over there. F.F was all the talks here in Canada when she passed away. She had a huge battle with a very rare form of Cancer, publisized her battle with a documentary, and then died from it. =( Very sad story.
