Last Wednesday night is the exact reason why just missing one RED THEORY show could equal missing the night of your life.
RED THEORY played at Club Hell. But this wasn't just any night at Club Hell: This was Fetish Night! The boys were pretty excited to play on this night, for obvious reasons, and were ready to rock some faces off as soon as they were set up. First though, there were some shots to take! (Jager, of course. What else?) More people filed into the club dressed in next to nothing and it was time to rock out!
RED THEORY opened up the show, after a loud air raid siren tangent (which sounds amazing through PA), with Faceless. Definitely a good song to start off with that sets the pace for the rest of the show. Their energy was high, like usual, and the audience was feeding off their energy. There were new faces as well as long time fans/friends that stood around the stage. The boys played great. Eric was interacting with the audience by jumping off the stage and playing in the crowd, Leo was rockin' it hard and screaming along to the words, Jeff was playing all over the stage, and Chaz was giving it his all and interacting with the crowd. Chaz endured a pretty hardcore smash to the face from Eric's bass when both members were rockin out. For a second there I thought there might be a fight but instead Chaz used that anger to emphasize his vocals.
One thing I have to note about Chaz is the passion he uses behind his vocals. Not only can you hear it in his voice, but you can see it in his face. Some of their songs have a lot more meaning than many realize and every time Chaz sings those songs, you can tell in his voice and in his facial expressions that he is reliving those moments all over again.
RED THEORY closed the set with Ded Lites, which you can now hear on WHJY. The crowd cheered but the night was far from over. After the boys finished breaking down their gear, it was time to get our drink on! (Er, some more I should say.) I had put some stickers at the end of the bars and was happy to see only a few left when I walked over to get a drink. Girls and guys were going up to the band members complimenting them on their set. There was an area sectioned off with a block, almost like gallows, where you could be handcuffed and whipped by a dominatrix. You can imagine where we all spent most of our time. Beckett (a huge fan of RED THEORY) decided she would go up in her bra and skirt with a RED THEORY sticker on her stomach. We all cheered for her while Eric snapped pictures. Then Eric and I had the idea of putting me up on the block but in a lot less clothes. I trust the intoxicated bass player of RED THEORY as he places RED THEORY stickers over my nipples; thinking everything is covered up. I get up on the block with nothing but boy shorts, thigh highs, and RED THEORY stickers covering my nipples. But my outfit was not complete until Leo handed me his hat. The boys are out in front cheering me on while I scream as I get whipped, "This is for RED THEORY!" I did not realize that a tiny part of my areola was showing. While this was going on, Chris K (manager of RED THEORY) was getting whipped by longtime fan/friend Nikki. It was an amusing sight to see, to say the least.
RED THEORY did not disappoint Fetish Night and Fetish Night did not disappoint any of us. The boys were psyched to hear they are wanted back to play yet another Fetish Night. I can only imagine the things to come. I would not miss it if I were you!
