Thanks for the headsup re the pics - should be sorted now :)

Yes I love the brother bickering stuff - but that line really didn't fit for those of us that know the boys just that well.

I considered the weakness thing. Which is why I said I understand if he couldn't overcome the witch. But hell pretty sure he'd have enough juice left to make sure the vessel he is in remains his alone! Sam was essentially possessed by TWO beings then and I'm quite the Witch had no concerns about keeping the vessel whole!! Yes indeed HANDWAVE!!

Oh there were definitely moments to love in this that's for sure. And hey show does cheese & ridiculous leaps of disbelief with the best of them. But it doesn't often throw me out of the moment with such consistency as this one did. But by golly I'll watch this one a hundred times over before I do another Swap Meat look that's for sure! ;)

My scale of enjoyment has been in airing order so far with #1 at the top of my list and this one at the bottom - but though I agree with all the holes you have pointed out, together with everyone else I've seen reviewing so far, I still enjoyed it.
I ain't keen on Charlie, though, even less so in this episode.

Charlie definitely lost some of her shine for me in this one. I certainly didn't intensely dislike the episode that's for sure. I just found the moments that had me going WTF? at certain lines and actions were too many for me to really get into the episode. Even on the rewatch I found myself being thrown out of it too much. *shrugs* Either way though - I'd still take a weak episode on this show any day of the week over some of the other crap that's on the box!

As far as Dean calling on Zeke to resurrect Charlie--I see it as a purely desparate reaction to something happening to a person who is like a little sister, who got into hunting because of him, and who died saving him--flashback to Jo's death--and the deja vu of it just made him react strictly on gut feeling, no thought for Sam at all for just a moment. Dean just couldn't handle another experience like Jo's death.

As far as the snarking on reading picture books, that just felt like the boys' typical dissing each other because that's what they do, not because it meant anything.

Crowley being in the bunker really has me on edge--you just know that is going to bite them in the butt eventually. And it looked to me like they unchained him so he'd tell them what the witch wanted and then ran out without rechaining him? Because there was the scene after it was all over with Sam putting the collar back on? Really???

Don't get me wrong - I acknowledge that Dean's actions were desperate. It's not that I thought he shouldn't get Zeke to bring her back - of course he was going to. But after learning that it would mean a longer time of possessed Sam surely he could have taken a few moments to use the situation to his advantage.

See the dissing didn't feel like their usual bickering to me - which was nailed on Bobby's couch in At Death's Door. The dissing and the bickering has always had the element of truth about it which is what made it delightful. This "You know...the ones without pictures?" was just a lazy and patronisingly false line. Why not have them argue the merits of book Vs movie/show instead. I can totally see them bickering about that in a clever and humourous way.

Yeah. You just KNOW that Crowley thing is just not going to end well.

I want Sam to find out about Zeke, stat. Until that happens I don't think it will be possible for me to wholeheartedly enjoy an episode.

BTW, this was ep 9x04. 9x03 was the Cas-centric one.
