The West Virginia State Fair is over. Business have reopened and traffic is back to normal. My kids went several times....to ride all the (in my mind, puke causing) exciting rides. They did drift in and out of the buildings that offered sites, sounds, smells of WV art, crafts, food and music but mostly they where there for the rides. The trills. My middle son did say that while eating dinner he did enjoy listening to the 'Prairie Home Companion' live, which is one of our favorite NPR radio shows. I would have liked to sit and watch that show. My daughter did catch bits and pieces of several horse shows. I would have liked to watch all of those. But the fair is expensive and my available funds went to my kids and their enjoyment of (dizzy puking) fun rides.
Here are pictures of our recycled art that was entered in the fair. I don't know if we placed or won any ribbons. In fact I think a friend mentioned in passing that a small dog made out of golf balls took first place. It doesn't matter to me if we placed or not. I think we must have been thirsty while we where creating our projects, since they all have a liquid theme. LOL
I enjoyed creating art with my kids and reinforcing the ideas that 'new is not better, 'reuse, reuse' and 'recycling is fun'.
