*It's late at night, wherever you are. You may be planning on turning in for a good night's sleep.

But no. There's the sudden sound of a thunderbolt tearing through the sky - despite the fact that the rain may have ended hours ago.

If you look outside, you may notice two redstringed redsynonymhere whirling through the air, fighting with clear intent to kill each other. ( Read more... )

[Sleep? Giles doesn't sleep, even this late at night. No, he's out patrolling when a thunderbolt narrowly misses him.

Instinct takes over - Giles ducks behind the nearest wall, which just happens to be the library. Once he realizes that no one seems to be attacking him, he dares to take in the situation.

And he stares. He can't quite figure out if Rachel might need help or not.]

*She's about to throw another thunderbolt, the sleeves of her dress morphing into blades, when...*

...ah. Remilia, it would seem we have an observer.

Hello, Mr. Watcher.

[halting with her spear a second and looking down]

Hm?

Not observing by choice, thanks.

Was just heading home. [Looking cautiously from one to the other, mostly wondering if he's at risk of getting a thunderbolt thrown at him again.] Sorry, but what the hell are you both doing?

Settling our differences, of course. This little kitten seems to think she is a match for me.

I will prove her quite wrong.

You keep talking but you have nothing to show for it. On the other hand, Rachel here will meet her invariable demise.

Sorry, but do you have to do this in town? Couldn't you go out into the desert and shoot lightning at each other?!

Do we have the ability to? Certainly.

I see no reason why we should. I am capable of containing the damage from my attacks, even if this clumsy oaf of a vampire is not.

You are the one shooting your effluence everywhere you look. I have kept everything proper.

If you are worried down there, do not be. I do not involve humans in my affairs.

Vampires shooting lightning are new, certainly. But you'll excuse me if I don't exactly take either of your words on the matter.

From here, it looks like you're both just showing off.

Oh please, Remilia, do pay attention for a moment. I have caused infinitesimal collateral damage, even with the force of my lightning.

You wound me, Mr. Watcher. I am merely proving my dominance over this foolish little girl, and nothing more.

You have done nothing but prove yourself to be a measly little rat!

[FLINGING HER LANCE AGAIN]

[Giles' first instinct is to intervene.

But...no. He doesn't like the thought of Rachel getting even more ruthlessly bitchy if he tries to save her life.

So Giles takes several steps back and brings up a barrier around himself, watching.]

*The damn lance hits her... squarely through the lower arm, and Rachel grits her teeth as she tries to pull it out by force.* And you are naught but a braggard!

[better off pushing it through]

And you are a grand standing fool.

[Grumbling] And you're both being ridiculous.

Sorry, whoever you are, what exactly is your problem with her?
