*It's late at night, wherever you are. You may be planning on turning in for a good night's sleep.

But no. There's the sudden sound of a thunderbolt tearing through the sky - despite the fact that the rain may have ended hours ago.

If you look outside, you may notice two redstringed redsynonymhere whirling through the air, fighting with clear intent to kill each other. ( Read more... )

[...Well. Adell was hearing thunder on an otherwise clear night. And thought he was hearing quite a bit of commotion. He's decided to go out and investigate, being part of the Blue Rogues and all. If something's going down, he has to put an end to it.

But by the time he comes to the source of where the noise was, the battle is already over. ...And he finds... Remilia and Rachel to be having tea. Presumably in the middle of a battle-scarred area.

He stops and just looks... kind of confused.]

*Sip.* Really, Remilia. You rely on such a crutch in that spear of yours.

You complain so much about it yet I haven't even used my true power on you.

[...He'll approach when he sees Remilia. At least she's familiar, though Rachel's voice rings a bell. Given the devastation and if they're both still looking hurt...]

...Uh. I take it you two were sparring, or something?

*And she laughs.* True power? You make me laugh! If you truly possess--

[She was about to reply with something really cruel but-]

Sparring? We were attempting to kill each other.

[He glances over to Rachel, and keeps his tone serious and businesslike.]

Well. I heard the sound of fighting. I'm part of the Blue Rogues, it's my job to investigate and put a stop to it if it's endangering the village. ...Looks like I don't have to worry about that much.

[And then Remilia's statement catches him.]

...Trying to kill each other? Remilia, what the hell is going on?

Stop us? You presume to stop us? This is our business and our business alone.

Do not interfere, little boy, or you shall come to regret it.

[slamming her fist down on whatever table they're on and breaking it]

I refuse to allow you to speak to him in such a manner.

Thank you, Remilia.

[Adell doesn't flinch at all at Rachel's tone. In fact, it just causes him to steel himself. He shows no fear to the threat or insult, speaking evenly but with a tone that indicates he does not like being threatened.]

If you end up hurting someone else in your fight, it becomes my business, Miss Alucard. It's my duty to protect the people in this village and it's something I take very seriously.

You refuse to allow me? I do not take my permissions from you, bloodstained princess.

And as for you, child, what right have you to step into a battle chosen by both of its participants? Do not think me so clumsy as to injure a bystander. My wrath shall claim the spirit of Remilia Scarlet and Remilia Scarlet alone.

[Remilia tapped her fingers together and smiled to hide the murderous impulse she was going through.]

I don't believe you understand. I have accepted Adell as one of my own. Any insults you direct to him, you also direct to me. I will not have it.

[...That's high praise coming from Remilia, even for the relatively short time he's known her. When a noble accepts you as a friend and one of their own, it's a pretty significant gesture, and though he's not outwardly showing it, he understands that Remilia's pretty much sticking her neck out for him.

He decides to be more careful with his words for her sake. He's reasonably confident he could take Rachel in a fight if it came to it, but he would rather avoid it.]Miss Alucard. My right comes from being the leader of an organization whose objective is to protect the village, and the people in it, from threats, both from within and out. If two individuals willingly sanction a fight, it still does not give them the right to run rampant throughout the village. If other people get forcibly involved, then it's a threat to the relative peace and security that people have here. A breakdown of order is the last thing we need in a situation as bad as the one we are in ( ... )

Oh? My, Mr. Defender, you have settled for quite the lesser prize. Would you really accept this inferior being as your mistress? Pathetic!

*A slow, wicked smile.* And as you can see, the only damage I have done has been to the foolish girl standing before me. Your services are quite unneeded here.

[Helping a noble goes a long way. But Remilia leans back and drinks more tea. She knows that Adell is no pushover and if Rachel wants to push it, she might have a surprise coming.]

[...Now he knows she's trying to push his buttons.

Still, he stands unflinching, unwavering, in spite of that wicked smile. He's seen it plenty of times in the Netherworld, so any intimidating effect it would normally have clearly doesn't work on him.]

I am no one's vassal or servant. Remilia is not my superior. However, she is my friend. And I definitely do not appreciate you insulting her in my presence.

[He does not state it in a threatening way, but instead in a rather matter-of-fact manner.]
