College Republicans are cowards. These people sit comfortably in there nice, heated homes and blab how great it is that we are over in Iraq fighting. I'm going to keep this short. These people are too cowardly to go over and fight. The University will still be here when (or if) you come back. So, what are you waiting for? The Military's ( Read more... )

College is where you gain your identity, College is where you form your beliefs and College is where you meet the people that you will call friends, and even husband or wife for the rest of your life. College is not just a bunch of "college fools" as you put it and it teaches you much more then a "small bit".

Negatives are "driving and getting out on their own"?? What is that?? Those are growth opportunities not negatives.

I guess its ok for those kids earlier to say what they said, and after they said it Brett only reacted to it. It goes both ways, those comments were beyond rude and needed to be made in person, not over a online journal where others can see. I would be ashamed if my family made those comments on my online journal, and not to me in person, but I do understand where Brett has come from alot more now.

Please teach you kids about that liberal versus conservative thing, I don't think they get it.
Again I am an adult, member of Theta Chi as an alumnus, and work at The University of Akron currently, so I have lived. I've served my country, went to college for 2 degrees and traveled around thw world. I've lived life, but have alot more living to do.

At a young age my parents let me explore, and I looked at who I was, what religions were out there, and lived life. Recently, I became a stronger Christian because of it, because I was able to live a little and have experiences to draw from.
Part of living life is sometimes doing the wrong thing and sometimes doing the right thing, but you learn from it, and I would rather see someone have those experiences to draw from and make their own mind up on what they want to do religion wise.
Alot of kids are told from day one what religion they are, and that is BS.

No one can claim to have a strong grip on life, everyone is experiencing life, the good and the bad, it's how you deal with those good and bad times that makes you who you are. Through college and the fraternity Brett is learning how to deal with the good and the bad by being a leader.

When he graduates he will join a exclusive group of about 13% of Americans who hold college degrees, he will have had the privilige of being a President of a fraternity, and join many other fraternity men in the workforce, it's an exclusive group of people that seem to get jobs faster then non greek people.

Brett needs support right now, he's finding out who he is, and if your not going to support him, then leave him alone.

I also support Brett. Anyone who says College isn't living life, or even 'only a small bit', has not taken a serious look at the life of a college student. I would like to see a normal adult try to handle 15 hours of upper class Political Science coursework. 19 hours of work. 30 hours of studying. Five student organizations. Numerous leadership positions. And fraternal obligations. Then again maybe that's why college isn't for everone. You if you want to call those who support Brett, 'college fools', I think you should try handling what we do for five years, before you start attacking us.

As far as the politics are concerned...
To call politics "poision", is purely ignorant, and just plain wrong. Because you refuse to be openminded to the political system does not give you the right to attack it with unbased generalizations. Now let me first say that not all conservatives are right wing nut jobs. But it is you, the bible thumping, holier than thou, shove my religion down your throat, right wing extremeists that give your party a bad reputation. I myself am a conservative democrat. I was brought up Catholic. And I believe in my faith very much so. But that DOES NOT give me the right to force it upon others, or to look down upon others who do not share the same views as myself(I am not implying that Brett doesn't have morals, simply that not everyone in society lives to the same morals). To do so is HYPOCRTITCAL of your own faith, for Jesus said to "love one another as I have loved you". In attacking Brett for how he lives his life you ALL have broken this rule. How Brett chooses to live his life is none of your concern. Whether or not you agree with it. Unless he harms others or causes socitey a problem, you have no right to critisize him. This is how you two differ. Brett quietly lives his life. You, the conservative extemeists, on the other hand find the need to attack people and create riffs in society.

I welcome any and all reponse to this. I have thrown my hat into the ring on this argument. I look forward to rebuttle.

Sincerly,
Kevin Stolecki
