What a shitty NFL season. I'm not saying this because just the Steelers won the Super Bowl. There are many reasons why this was a shitty NFL season. I think its time for a classic Tatar-style list update on why the 05-06 NFL season sucked.
1) The Steelers won the super bowl. There is nothing worse a Cleveland fan can endure. Whats worse is how dominant they were throughout the playoffs. Now, we have to endure an entire year of shitty ESPN announcers talking about how great of a player Roethlisberger is, which is bullshit because out of the 4 postseason games, he was only average at best. It is clear that the Steelers, like the 2000 ravens, won the Super Bowl because of their defense. It was a difficult postseason to watch.
2) Culpepper. If you don't know by now, Daunte Culpepper is my favorite player. I don't know, he is the most exciting to watch, one of the most talented players in the league, and on my second favorite team, the Vikings. Daunte had a uncharacteristically shitty season before getting hurt for the rest of the year. I was excited to know that I would get to watch my favorite player face my favorite team when the Browns would travel to Minnesota. I couldn't even get that as Culpepper went down for the season against Panthers. Lets not forget Culpepper in the boat scandal too.
3) The Browns. This isn't at the top of my list for a reason. They did improve from last year and laid the foundations for a successful team in the future. We did get Crennel and I know that under him, the Browns are going to see some postseason play. But it wasn't this season. Winslow is out for the season before it even starts due to an idiotic motorcyle stunt. Dilfer was only mediocre, as expected. Edwards finally has a breakout game, then gets hurt for the year. Both games against the Steelers might be some of the most difficult games I had to watch. The Browns lose to the Steelers with Charlie Batch at QB? How did that happen? Then the Browns get owned 42-0 on Xmas eve. You know what, I'm done talking about this.
4) The Colts. If they Vikings or Browns weren't going into the Super Bowl, I'd had to give my support to the Colts. They are just a good team, in all aspects. They exemplify teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination. Then for them to fall so easily against a dirty team like the Steelers? Its disappointing.
5) The bengals. When it is clear that the Browns aren't going to the postseason, we begin to root for Carson Palmer and the Bengals. Lo and behold, the dirty Steelers injure him and the Steelers go on to win.
A forgettable season, no doubt.
