Wow, I'm kind of surprised by how many people are annoyed by River Song... I mean, I see all the points, but for me, at least, it works.
lol, I wish I had something more intelligent to say about it, but I'm having death by allergy today, so all I got is that I totally love her. :P

I hope you saw my other post about this?

I really am troubled by the way my dislike of her was expressing itself.

i don't see you making comments like, "I am tolerating her presence because I want to see her fuck up. BADLY. I want to see her fuck up and I want to see that More-Doctory-Than-Thou attitude bite her in the arse," or saying oh, she knows too much, it's so annoying! followed by, well obviously the doctor taught her everything she knows, so why should we have any reason to like her? or she isn't treating the doctor with the right amount of respect or some of the other stuff i am seeing here and all around fandom at the moment.

i still disagree with you -- i don't see the reason for staking out dislike of how she's presented in this story when we've only seen half of it. i mean, next week i might be joining in with, "jesus, moffat, what the fuck were you thinking?" but right now i think there is a lot of "show" that is communicating that a lot of the "tell" is bravado and that the story is more complicated, and i like that.

You are absolutely right that this is the middle of the story, and my opinion can change.

My earlier qualms about this season itself were already given a good shot to the kneecaps when Amy didn't know what a Dalek was, so I can't discount that by next week I'll think River Song is radcakes.

"[...]or some of the other stuff i am seeing here and all around fandom at the moment."

God, I hate people sometimes.

this is exactly what my pollen-smothered brain couldn't formulate into coherent thought this morning!
