Holiday week continued...

On Boxing Day evening, we hosted a games night. Four friends came over and we ordered pizza. Kevin & I made a fruit crumble. The six of us played several games of Bannagrams and a couple of Scattergories. Being the horrible host that I am, I won every single game that we played that night. Bad me!

The next day, we went to United Furniture (on Grandview, not far from home) to buy a small sofa bed for the computer room. The sofa was pretty cheap since it was on sale. We then went next door to XS Cargo, where we picked up 6 discounted HBO dvds. Unfortunately we had to drive out to the warehouse in Burnaby to pick up the sofa. Fortunately, the box it was in rested comfortably on the roof rack and we were able to secure it with some rope.

On Tuesday, Robert's boyfriend, Volker arrived from Germany. So Robert and Volker arrived on our doorstep Tuesday night. They quickly moved into the computer room where they will stay for 3 weeks. So on some nights, there are 6 of us (when you include Andre our roommate and his girlfriend) sleeping in this small home. It is a good thing that we have 3 bathrooms. We still need to train Robert to take shorter showers.

On New Year's Eve, I cooked 3 chinese dishes and Kevin picked up 3 dishes from a Chinese restaurant. It was sort of a compromise. Can you tell? The four of us, Robert, Volker, Kevin and me ate from the 6 dishes which were complimented with some German chocolate bars and cookies that Volker brought from home. Volker also presented us with a large selection of German and Swiss dark chocolate direct from Europe. I will be enjoying them for some time. Yum.

We then settled down to watch one of the recently purchased hbo dvds, The Life and Times of Peter Sellers. It had won a golden globe when it was released and it was an excellent film. You really got a feel for Peter's craziness, both in his films and his life. One comment that stood out was that his films were sort of an internal concurrent biography of his emotional roller coaster life. One of my all time favorite films, Being There was one of the last two films he made.

Today, Kevin and I went to Dave's place for his annual New Year's Day brunch. During dessert, as usual, Dave read out the predictions that we all made last year. My prediction (green Christmas) was only one of two that actually came true. We then thought up a bunch of predictions for next year. Now it is time to settle down and watch Benjamin Button on DVD.
