Damn it!
This evening I caught the end of an England v Rest of the World charity match for UNICEF, the match went to penalties and much to my surprise Damian Lewis stepped up to take one. Which means that I must have missed him playing earlier in the game and so missed the chance to watch him running around in shorts. Not fair.
Also not very fair, but not for me, I watched the WWII in HD and colour episode on the pacific war today and they managed not to mention Guadalcanal or Peleliu. It made me feel sad for Team Leckie.
Continuing on the history geek theme, I am now reading the Utah Beach book in the Battleground Europe series. Not too much detail is given about the 506th and their role, but a good read all the same. One photo made me chuckle, it shows three paratroopers crossing a railway line in Carentan after the battle there, the middle one looks like BoB Guarnere, but unfortunately the helmet markings are wrong.
