Fuck you kitty you're gonna spend the night, OUTSIDE!
Ah, the joy that is The Presidents of The United States of America. If only Obama or McCain could rock that hard. Politics aside, this is a very serious post about something of epic importance.
In August I bought a dock for my ipod. This allows me to listen to my ipod much frickin louder than my computer speakers will allow. Also an ipod dock is convenient because it makes it so one can listen to a continuous shuffle that will go through all of the songs without repeating any as long as you don't go back to the main menu. Thus I began my project. A project whose full scope I did not understand when I started it and a project with which I am now completely obsessed.
I'm listening to my entire ipod (5,224 songs, it's only half full) without skipping a song.
This is fricking insane. This is the kind of project only a madman would undertake, and it is slowly driving me even madder. At the same time it is the coolest thing ever. I'm basically listening to my entire music collection straight through without repeating anything, it's pretty awesome. I have come across many songs that I had forgotten about, songs that I hated and have no idea why they were even in my collection and a bunch of songs that I didn't have any clue what they were. Over the last couple of weeks though some really odd things have been happening. Here are some examples:
Friday I was getting ready to go out to Lafayette for the weekend. It kept playing slow, sad bastardy shit. As I was finishing packing I said outloud to the ipod (I told you I'm getting crazy) "Why can't you play something to get my pumped up for this trip, dammnit?" The next song: The Trooper by Iron Maiden.
I was riding the 74 Fullerton bus the other day. What song does it play right after I get on? 74 Fullerton by Slapstick.
I was looking through a bunch of really old pictures of some ShuttleCocks shows that Mike Brown sent to me. The song that came on. . . Something to Say by the ShuttleCocks.
Yeah, it's getting kind of freaky. By the way, this is the coolest thing I've done in a long time. For a huge music dork like me this is so much fun and I could talk about the craziness of it all for hours. . . More details to follow if I don't lose my mind.
Currently playing: Fireman by Jawbreaker. Which came on right after Mailman by Soundgarden which is a bit odd as well. . .
