From redsox.com:

Jason Bay can now call himself an American.

The Red Sox's left fielder, a native of Canada, will officially become a U.S. citizen on Thursday afternoon in a ceremony at Boston's historic Faneuil Hall, according to The Associated Press.

Bay, from British Columbia, is the first Red Sox player to be naturalized since Dominican-born David Ortiz was sworn in last summer in Fenway Park.

Bay is batting .262 with 19 home runs and 69 RBIs in 76 games for the Red Sox this year. After coming over in the trade that sent Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers before last season's Trade Deadline, he hit .293 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs in his final 49 games of the 2008 regular season.

Congratulations to Jason Bay! He's ours now, Canada!
