The Mariners have released first baseman Richie Sexson.

Sexson was hitting .218 in 74 games with Seattle this season, striking out 76 times in 252 at-bats. He agreed in December 2004 to a $50 million, four-year contract.

In comparison, Jason's played 76 games, with 250 at bats, .220 average right now and 71 strikeouts.
