THIS is the first news I've heard on the subject.
Apparently, the Rangers are one of the many teams who have expressed interest in Crisp. Off the top of my head, the teams I've heard in connection to Crisp so far are the Rangers, Twins, Padres, Cubs, Braves and Nationals. But anyways, as explained in the article above, the Red Sox are talking to the Rangers about Crisp and are interested in Rangers catcher Gerald Laird.
Laird is a great defensive catcher but is a project offensively. After hitting .271/.348/.406 in the minors, he's hit .246/.297/.377 in 5 partial seasons at the major league level.
