London

Well, no one needs to hear me say that what happened in London today was totally fucking horrible.  No one needs me to to go on about the devastation of violence and the mindset of terrorists.  Certainly no person wants to read my rambling pontification about politics and culture war and "the New Normal", and not a one of you wants me to bring up 9-11 memories that have no relevance to what people are going through right now across the Atlantic.  Everyone can agree that it would be utterly pointless for me to rant out on Bin Laden and Bush and Blair, on Western capitalism, on Muslim and Christian fundamentalism.  And we can all admit that it would be quite tasteless for me to discuss my own terrible fears about subway explosions in my city's near future.

So there really isn't much else that I can say other than the fact that my heart and mind go out to Englanders today.  I know that you guys are better at dealing with this sort of thing than most people are on my side of the pond, and I have complete confidence that, as terrible as this day is, you will be able to pick up the pieces and soldier on like you always have.
