Professionals zine postponed

Unfortunately due to a lack of submissions at this time, Red Shirt Press' Professionals zine has been put on hold. We still have some amazing Lorraine Brevig artwork that we'd like to use for a Pros zine, but with the current atmosphere in fandom that is leaning more towards publishing on the 'Net than to traditional paper zines, at this point we ( Read more... )

Hi again! As far as I know alot of people in Pros still like zines - but I wonder if it might have been quiet because not many people currently in Pros know about your Press, or who you are, etc? I know I wrote and asked who you were, and you wrote back, and I've recognised names on your comm flist that I respect, but I don't remember seeing anything else at the Pros comms/lists after that first request, and I have to be honest - I forgot all about it ( ... )

Thanks you for your comment, but at this point the cancellation of the Pros zine is pretty much a done deal as we couldn't publish by July for Close Quarters even if we started editing submissions now. It normally takes us 6 months or so to turn a zine around with formatting and editing ( ... )

Just to reassure you that I absolutely was not asking who you were in real life - I'd never do that! More who you all are in fandom terms - are you in Pros fandom, or were you once? What was it that prompted you to publish a Pros zine if not? Do you/have you contributed to any of the Pros comms (lj or yahoo or elsewhere in particular) or published other Pros zines that we'd recognise? That sort of "who are you?" was what I was wondering!

I know Pros is a close community and we wish writers had given this project a chance
That's kind of my point - I hang around a few parts of the Pros community, on lj, Yahoo lists and with people in real life (!) but I don't think I came across anyone who knew anything about your press, or potential zine etc except perhaps to say "Oh yes, I saw that - who are they?" about your few posts to the_safehouse, Zinelist etc. People are so busy in general that I suspect I'm not the only one who needs reminding of projects like this, when they're coming from people who "we" (by which I just mean people actively ( ... )
