My Tempest

May 02, 2005 23:19

How long has it been?
My mind is engulfed by the gusting gale,
That your forgotten mouth blows into my sail.
Lost in this lonely sea of exile;
Floating on a raft with memories on trial.

How long has it been?
This untouchable web of salty surf
Was once a thick tufty terrestial turf.
But green leaves whithered to brown
And the skies opened, releasing a flood on the ground.

How long has it been?
Vegetation was thicker than this tension.
Oh I musn't forget that I need to mention
This flood stems from my own deed.
My looming memories are a hunger I just can't feed.

How long has it been?
Four months, a week, and two hours I've been writing this rhyme.
But this brief interval is being stretched over a lifetime.
My raft sinks lower with each crashing wave.
Your memory will soon become another grave.
