Hello, and welcome to another bout of safe, sane and consensual swashbuckling, with some thoughts on The Musketeers 2.03: ( The Good Traitor. )

Why have I not seen this show? This must clearly be remedied. Every Friday night, is it? Iplayer??? *stares at pics of the MARKET*

And THE HATS. *stares at THE HATS*

There is quality hattage in this show, it cannot be denied. Also, much striking of handsomely moody poses.

It's worth checking out the first couple of minutes on iPlayer, just for Rochefort's tacky bachelor pad and the dreadful-yet-hilarious things he chooses to get up to in there...

Oh, dear, I should never have read this. I have a chest cold, and screaming with laughter is no good for it at all. The links didn't help, although fortunately since it's Sunday I actually had a bit of time to get sucked into the black hole that is TV Tropes. All in all, this was another splendid job and you are an evil, evil woman.

I really should have added a warning about the TV Tropes links, since I am well aware of what a dangerous time sink that site can be, but I'm pleased you were able to escape without too much damage!

I feel this was a really poor episode. The Musketeers were hardly seen, let alone heard. No memorable lines from Athos, vital for each episode. I won't even mention the tacky Rochefort scene or the King and Milady. Vile, not worth seeing those bits. Constance was lovely. Fight scenes flitted around too quickly to get to see whats happening. I love the series but there have been far better episodes than ep3.

Yeah, not the best episode ever. My favourite Athos moment was at the market when he was talking about the Spanish general and said "He's here somewhere." The appeal wasn't the line but the delightfully sing-song way he said it.

Another excellent review.

*Wonders if we couldn't sneak the Muskeboys into Cambridge's ground next week for a spot of ball-related swashbuckling*

I'm secretly hoping that Cambridge's back four will be leather-clad and wielding swords to boost their defence, but I admit the chances are low...

I suspect you are right but we can live in hopes until next Friday.
