Cheers to everyone who said nice things about my first Musketeers review last week! I shall endeavour to keep hammering 'em out for the rest of the series. Here are some thoughts on episode 2.02: ( An Ordinary Man... )
Brilliant write-up as always - I'm so glad you're doing these now! :)
Poor chap, he spends more time apologizing than a British Rail station announcer. Bwahaha! "We're very sorry for the delay to this (baptism) service..."
Continuing with the Blackadder theme, imagine if it was Nursie looking after the baby. Do we think Aramis would still go there? He probably would. *g*
I wonder how many takes the scarf-ripping took to get right. As it is, he nearly had Athos' head off with it!
Why exactly did Louis want the guy killed right there on his nice clean floor? Nobody seemed in any hurry to mop it up afterwards. :p (This is what happens when Richelieu is no longer around to say "try not to get blood everywhere"!)
I do like the idea of Nursie making an appearance, and agree that Aramis probably wouldn't mind at all. I also like the idea of Marguerite's name really being Bernard.
There is indeed a surprisingly fine line between a sensual toss of the head and being accidentally decapitated by one of your best mates, but I think Athos stayed on the right side of the line... just.
Rochefort's coat seems to get shinier in every scene. By the end of the series, he'll be able to roast a turkey in it. *sporfles* He does seem to be hankering after the 80s fashion-wise.

Yes, now I think about it, there's even something mid-period Spandau Ballet about his haircut too...
