It's been a while, Livejournal. Some things:
These gender swap Star Trek recasts are amazing. (
the original poster, for comparison)
This made me crack up. Blasphemous? Probably. Hilarious? Definitely. The (possibly fake) email conversation between the school Christian counsellor and a concerned parent, regarding a school Easter play.
Also, while I understand that the play is to be held outside school grounds, due to the fact that it is illegal to present medieval metaphysic propaganda in public schools, it is also my understanding that you are now required by law, as of last year, to go by the title Christian Volunteer rather than School Chaplain. A memo you may have missed or filed in your overflowing 'facts that cease to exist when they are ignored' tray.
Subject jump! There is not nearly enough good ice skating RPF out there to satisfy my needs. It's so sad, you guys. I've been obsessively refreshing certain fics on the wintergameskinkmeme in the hope that they'll get updated. On the first day that I read them, I refreshed and there were four new chapters! I feel that this set up some unrealistic expectations. This is why I don't like WIPs. And could someone please explain to me why people bookmark badfic on delicious? I've seen so many bookmarks of people just complaining about how bad the prompt fill was. Um.... why bother? Unless they use delicious as some kind of way to keep track of ALL the fic they read? Eh, whatever floats their boat.
On a related note, how have I managed to like Evan Lysacek? Just....what? Evan Lysacek, professional douche. His sports cliches have become endearing. Even his stupid, orange face. I suppose it's just a bias in the fics I read. Including the accidental!marriage Evan/Johnny. *g*
I feel kinda stupid singing (and liking) a song with the lyrics
"....I just gotta say I want your hex
I don't want to live without your hex
I'm so obsessed with your sexiness"
Oh, Adam. Reeally?
My dad knows the tune to Bad Romance. I find this quite surprising (and more than a little bit awesome).
We won our netball game today. Exciting! My team is amazing, seriously. And it's fun, both training and games, which is cool. I'm new to the game, and I'm not very good at the moment, but I'll get better with time. Yay sport!
I've been terrified about this thing I see a lot of writers worrying about- the comma splice. Now, I wasn't really sure of what it was and had just heard about it a lot. I just looked it up... and I feel better now. This article explained that it's just a thing that Americans in particular freak out about, and when I read the examples of correct and incorrect comma splices, I felt reassured. I'm pretty sure I'm using them correctly. You have no idea how irrationally relieved I feel right now. I'm such a grammar pedant.
So this is the end of the hiatus, for now. It wasn't too bad. Although, I'm not going to lie, I DID check my f-list during my time off. But less often than normal. Go me?
