Practically 2 months till Christmas

Nov 01, 2009 21:31

I feel like such a Grinch, but I can't stand Christmas decorations and music at the shopping centres. "Too early, too early!" I feel like crying out. I'm not ready for Christmas yet! Also, go away you stupid corporations, selling out the holiday. You too, whoever is trying to sell Halloween to Australians. DNW Halloween, or irritating children knocking on the door.

Successfully completed my first day of the wrisomifu challenge, i.e. write for at least 10 minutes every day for the month of November, inspired by similar challenges like nanowrimo and nablopomo, but more suited for the pathetic writers (or non-writers) among us. Oh, and wrisomifu = write something, you miserable f**k. It sounded tailor made for me and my....particular sentiments... on writing. *headdesk*

Fortunately, I managed to shove out about half a page in 15 minutes, and it was a relatively un-painful experience, which was an unexpected bonus. So far so good?

I have decided to couple my 10 minutes of writing with other wholesome activities- 10 minutes exercising (read: jumping up and down enthusiastically to Cobra Starship), and 10 minutes reading (more like 40 minutes- I am incapable of putting a good book down) every day. My current book is The Book Thief, which has been pending completion since late last year. I really want to see how it ends; it's quite good so far.

Things that are amusing me:

* Patrick ageing backwards. When I look at the photos of him at his highschool I keep having to stop and say, no, it's not from when he was IN highschool, it's from yesterday. He looks so young! Oh and him drumming. ♥______♥ BB!Patrick! Not in this set of pictures, but Pete's shaved hair! FOB's delorean-assisted time travel to 2003 is serious business, yo.

* Pete being guest judge and mentor on Australian Idol. Pete Wentz. It has not stopped being funny. I watched tonight's episode to, y'know, prepare myself. It was suitable awkward, so hopefully Pete doesn't do much worse.

* Wordle. Fun stuff.

* Torchwood & Doctor Who. My love for Torchwood is still on the edge between ironic and serious, but it is undeniably fun stuff. Doctor Who surprises me with how genuinely good it is. I have grown up with the idea that Dr. Who is fun, low budget sci-fi, and I have been pleased to learn that the new series is not like that. Blink was terrifying. I hid behind the doona for the first half of the episode. It's a very scary episode. I will elaborate on my television musings at a later time, during which I will tell you all about my appreciation for Being Erica, Glee and Hungry Beast.

I am very excited at the prospect of an alphadog video. I love the full version! They were holding out on us!

The past weekend has been spent searching for shoes and dresses. Both have been found! This is incredible relieving, because I hate prolonged shopping (or any shopping, really. Haaaaaaate).

And I am going to end this entry here, because I have much to do tomorrow, and it is quite late. Good night!
