Politics, Religion, and Death

Star Trek is really funny sometimes. Really funny. On today's episode, the trekkies visit a planet that is starting to prosper as a scientific community. You know, they abandoned the belief in a God over 1,000 years ago. Now they try to explain everything with the scientific process. Well the trekkians interfere, as usual, and they do all these amazing things like beam around and heal the dead, so the people on the planet start to think they have divine powers. This sends their society into chaos, and they abandon all rational thought. Naturally, which burnings and ritual sacrifice are just a stone's throw away. This was all epitomised for me when someone said, "It's worse than we thought - they're begining to believe in a God."

I wish every cristian could sit down and watch that episode of Star Trek with me, so we could debate about how since one unexplainable thing happened, there must be a god. Of course, I'd probably have to get a lecture about how I couldn't prove the existance of Gravity any more than they could prove the existance of a god, but it would be worth it. It would be my service to the world. Put it on my tombstone -

Here Lies Corey Johnson

So take that, bitch!
