Gettin' it together!

So I met with Belinda, a local photographer in temecula, at Starbucks yesterday. It was such an awesome experience. She gave me so much advice and I feel like I can really do this now! Plus she has a few things coming up she thinks she can use me with, which is awesome. I don't have a portfolio yet, so anything I can do to get some good quality pictures of my work would be awesome! Her projects coming up:

♥ Going to Bridal fairs and setting up a little stand in her booth to do free makeups on the brides walking around the fair. This is an awesome idea because I know once people see how good I can make them look they will want me to do their makeup for the event. Plus, it might even get the consultation part of the process out of the way which would be very convenient for both me and the bride. In addition, it brings work to both myself and Belinda. I can be her attraction and she knows how the Bridal fairs work. A great introduction.

♥ For Valentines Belinda was planning on setting up a temporary studio in an invitation/wedding boutique in town for the two weekends before and day of valentines. There she is going to be doing discounted shoots in mass and I could be the in house makeup artist and charge a small fee for touch ups or full makeups all day.

♥ Last but not least of course, she want's to use me for weddings and other in-studio shoots. She asked me what my highest charge for a full wedding makeup (bride +4-5 others + touch ups on location) would be. I'm thinking about $500. She's going to make one of her packages she offers include a makeup artist and she'll pay me to do it.

This is all really wonderful because she is an established photographer and already charges $1,800 - $3,300 per wedding packet and gets good enough business to remain self-employed. I'm grateful for her willingness to include me in her projects. While they may not be exactly what I want to be doing, it's better than working full-time retail in a mall for a corporate company and you got to start somewhere right?

Yay!!!
I hope this all works out.
And no, I'm not quitting my day job...
YET!
